Galeria Lucia de la Puente from Peru will be showing artist Aldo Chaparro's Untitled gold-leafed wood sculpture at Art Toronto 2016
I’ve been doing the maternity thing again over here, with our divine Baby E. With curatorial projects ongoing, getting out of the house at all these postpartum weeks can seem a major feat; an afternoon of gallery going can be near-impossible. I must say, however, that it’s easier now than ever to remain connected to artwork and events around the world. A scroll through Instagram can serve as a virtual visit to favourite galleries and artist studios. And online platforms like Artsy mount previews to entire art fairs before their doors actually open—as is the case with this coming weekend’s Art Toronto.
Still, nothing replaces the aesthetic thrill of standing in front of a great piece—or several thousand. And what better reason to jump back into the art scene with two feet than a major international art fair right in my own backyard?
